About Acworth, Georgia:

Situated in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, Acworth is a city in Cobb County in the state of Georgia, United States. It sits along the banks of Lake Allatoona and Lake Acworth on the Etowah River. The "Lake City" is bordered by Cherokee and Bartow counties to the north and Kennesaw to the southeast. It forms a part of the Atlanta metropolitan area and covers an area of 8.3 square miles of land. The total population was estimated at 28,502 in 2016.

 

The city had 5,453 housing units as of the 2000 census, but the total housing units has since grown to about 9,000. Majority of these housing units are one-unit, detached homes and were erected after 1970. There are also a sizeable number of historic buildings built before 1939 here. An estimated 86 percent of residents own their homes. Median age is currently estimated at 37 years, while median household income stands at more than $70,000. Spanish is a popularly-spoken language here, after English.

 

Acworth is an ideal place worth considering if you are looking for a city that can offer you that small, hometown feeling. Also referred to as "Old 41," the two-lane road was part of the Dixie Highway, which was the first interstate route to run through the southern section of the country.

 

There are about a dozen schools in Acworth, where public education is under the administration of the Cobb Country School District. Some of the best public schools in the city include Ford Elementary School, Pickett's Mill Elementary School, Frey Elementary School, Durham Middle School, and Allatoona High School.

 

An estimated 98 percent of Acworth residents get to work by car, while around one percent makes use of public transportation. Interstate 75 passes just north of the city and can be accessed from exits 277 and 278. South Acworth is linked to rapidly-growing areas in Paulding County by the recently-constructed Seven Hills Connector.
