About Buford, Georgia:

Buford is a small city that straddles Gwinnet and Hall Counties in the state of Georgia. With a population of just over 13,000, Beaufort lies just 25 miles Northeast of Atlanta, placing it in the Atlanta metropolitan region. Despite its proximity to one of the countries largest urban centers, Buford is closely identified with its access to an amazing landscape and scenic beauty. Buford is where they dammed the Chattahoochee River in 1956 to create Lake Lanier, widely recognized as one of the more popular water destinations in all of Georgia.

Buford enjoys a humid subtropical climate which features hot humid summers and cooler winters. The average high in January is around 50° while the summer high routinely reaches the low to mid 90s.

If you enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, waterskiing, or lakeside camping, there’s probably few better places for you in the Southeastern United States than Buford, Georgia. Lake Lanier is widely recognized as one of the best recreational lakes in the region and the thousands upon thousands of tourists and residents who visited year-round only underscore the point.   If you’re looking for some upscale resort recreation, Lake Lanier Islands has everything you could ever want. The luxurious resorts and five-star accommodations make this a popular destination for weddings and group celebrations.

Buford has more than seven miles of multi-purpose trails that are perfect for walkers, joggers, or cyclists who want to get around the city and take in some of its breathtaking beauty at the same time. These trails can connect Buford residents with both the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Centre as well as the Mall of Georgia. Buford City Park is a recreation gem with 25 acres of lush greenery as well as tennis and basketball courts, baseball, softball, and soccer fields.

Buford has garnered a reputation as being a premier shopping destination for Northeast Georgia. Many come to shop in the impressive Mall of Georgia, the largest mall in the entire state and the 36th largest in the country. For those who wanted more old-school approach to shopping, Buford’s historic downtown features a shopping experience that will take you back to yesterday. Unique artisan-run shops and boutiques offer Buford residents incredible selections from woodworking, pottery, stain glass, and other hand crafted collectibles.

The aforementioned Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Centre serves as Buford’s cultural and educational hub. It is a museum which provides scientific, environmental, and cultural exhibits primarily intended to educate young children.

A great source of community pride is the Buford City School District which administers all of the schools within the city limits. The district operates two elementary schools, Beaufort Academy, Buford Elementary, Buford Middle School and Buford High School

It is less than an hour’s drive to all of the big city amenities that can be found in a major urban centre like Atlanta. At the same time, it has a genuine close-knit community experience you can’t find just anywhere.
