Buford is a small city that straddles Gwinnet and Hall Counties in the state of Georgia. With a population of just over 13,000, Beaufort lies just 25 miles Northeast of Atlanta, placing it in the Atlanta metropolitan region. Buford City Park is a recreation gem with 25 acres of lush greenery as well as tennis and basketball courts, baseball, softball, and soccer fields.
Buford has garnered a reputation as being a premier shopping destination for Northeast Georgia. Many come to shop in the impressive Mall of Georgia, the largest mall in the entire state and the 36th largest in the country. First opened in 1999, this shopping treasure has more than 200 stores as well as a 20-theater cinema complex which includes an IMAX theater. The aforementioned Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Centre serves as Buford’s cultural and educational hub. It is a museum which provides scientific, environmental, and cultural exhibits primarily intended to educate young children.
A great source of community pride is the Buford City School District which administers all of the schools within the city limits. The district operates two elementary schools, Beaufort Academy, Buford Elementary, Buford Middle School and Buford High School
Buford Georgia is similar to a lot of communities in the surrounding area and that it offers a best-of-both-worlds scenario. Its proximity to Atlanta and the world’s busiest airport make it one of the more convenient places in the country to travel to and from. It is less than an hour’s drive to all of the big city amenities that can be found in a major urban centre like Atlanta.
