Hampton was recognized in 2013 as a “playful city,” a designation that goes to communities actively encourages its youth to be physically active. This would not be possible without top tier recreation and play areas within Hampton city limits. Its two premier public parks include McBrayer City Park, which features playground equipment, a splash pad, tennis court, soccer goals, and basketball court, as well as R.W. and Mary Lou Coley Park, which plays hosts to several ball games throughout the season.

For those who have a strong interest in the arts, Hampton is home to the Henry Arts Alliance. The Alliance was formed to promote and foster youth engagement in the arts. They have annual camps, festivals, and competitions to foster arts education and development.
