This hand-carved stone cottage has a ruins-like exterior and continues the theme as you go inside. Its well decorated cavern interior will wow you with its thoughtful layout and interesting construction technique.
On the main floor there is a full kitchen with concrete counters and dining bar, a sitting area with comfy chairs, a bathroom with a large tile shower and a bedroom with a queen bed and a private porch with a view of Lookout Mountain. Up the stone steps, you'll find a sweet bedroom loft with a full size bed and lots of windows with great views. Say hello to Tlaloc, the Aztec god of Rain and "that which sprouts" on the way up the steps.
Everyones' first word upon entering is "wow!" We never get tired of that and we're proud to be able to offer travelers a unique, clean, well-lit, luxurious cave dwelling
The Cavern on The Green is our second of two hand-carved, ruins style cottages. The other, the Bedrock Cave Cottage (vrbo# 971299) is next door. The two cottages sit in the middle of a twelve acre property and are situated such that each cottage has private areas outside. There is ample room for outdoor events and its a pretty sweet setup for an outdoor party with choice of bonfire sites.
I liked everything about this stay. I thought I wouldn’t like it because it was 14 miles from Chattanooga. It was an easy drive. I do recommend that you do like I did and bring a tv and fire stick. The WiFi was great. There is lots of privacy for me and my wife to have our anniversary alone together. If I am back up in the Chattanooga area I would stay here again. If you are looking for a nice place to be home away from home this is it. I did my research about different locations in the area and not just me but my wife was also very happy with this location. Don’t wait book your visit today.
We had such a wonderful visit, the house was clean and so unique. My kids loved sleeping in the loft. It was close to Cloudland Canyon and Chattanooga so we were able to do some hiking and then have great dinners in the evening.
The pictures are beautiful so being there is truly incredible! I would love to go back! Peaceful, a great getaway from everday life. Hosts really care about making it a memorable experience. Deb M.
This place is so cozy and unique. It is kept very neat and clean. The mountain view is spectacular, especially from the jacuzzi! It is nice to enjoy the peace and quiet, but only about 30 minutes from the city of Chattanooga, and about 10 minutes from Cloudland Canyon State Park. I will definitely visit again!
If you are looking for an unusual comfortable mountain cabin this is it. No cookie cutter hotel room here. All the conveniences of a name brand place but so much more. Perfect place to see fairies and trolls
A very relaxing weekend in a beautiful setting!
We had a great time and Rick was an awesome host he came by and filled us in on things to do around town. We will definitely stay there again.
A beautifully kept home nestled in a beautiful hillside location. Tucked away and nice and private, a perfect end to our road trip. Good communication and easy check in process, definitely recommend to anyone and everyone
We enjoyed the quiet at this out-of-the-way little hideaway “cavern.”
Serenity, Peacefulness and Coziness in an amazingly, beautiful, natural setting. Just what we were after. Thank you, Rick
This property is wonderful! It was clean, eccentric, and the views were wonderful. I woke up to hang gliders on the mountainside every morning. We had a last minute change where 2 kids joined us due to a babysitter dropping out, and Rick was very accommodating and it was no problem. Also, upon checkout, we got to meet some of the ladies that cleaned the home and they were equally as nice. I recommend for anyone who wants a stay away from home that is out of the ordinary!
Best part was the views, and seeing all the stars from the hot tub at night. Great hiking nearby- we enjoyed hiking and swimming at Cloudland Canyon State Park.
Rick is a fantastic host. The property has incredible views of the mountain. The hang gliders were a huge plus. Will definitely come again.
Great property to stay at. Beautiful home, beautiful views and was perfect for my husband and I. Peaceful and relaxing! Had a great time watching the hang gliders from the porch. We enjoyed talking with the owners and getting a little back ground on the property and on things to come. Would love to go back.
My husband and I stayed at Cavern on the Green while visiting the Chatanooga area. It was an easy drive to tourist attractions like LookOut Mountain and Ruby Falls. We also found a great state park, Cloudland Canyon State Park, nearby for hiking. The owner was out of the country but he had great help who took care of our needs right away. It was great fun watching the hangliders too. We cant wait to see the next addition to the accomodations!
My husband and I loved the creative details throughout the cavern. Everywhere we looked there was an interior design surprise that made us smile. The Cavern is welcoming, cozy, and fun! The hot tub at night is absolutely perfect. We truly felt like we "got away from it all". Chattanooga is a very short drive away and offers tons of activities, shopping, and excellent restaurants. We loved every minute of our stay at Cavern on the Green!
We loved our two-night stay! It was the perfect short honeymoon! Very beautiful architecture! You can definitely tell that each detail was chosen with great care. The host, Rick, was very welcoming. I would highly recommend!
We had a great time even with rain! Hot tub and views were great! We were still able to see Ruby Falls also. The property is very secluded. There is another cabin next door but it was empty for our stay so we Had privacy. Rick and Angela were very nice and introduced themselves when we arrived but other than that gave us privacy while still letting us know if we needed anything at all just to let them know. They also gave us recommendations for great local places to eat! Definitely a return location!!!
Thank you for the Most Wonderful Time of My Life I really enjoyed being in the mountains that was my first time and I will be back Rick and Angela are two beautiful people they had the most beautiful personality that I know but I will be back
Unique, clean, peaceful
The cottage is really cute, and Rick was a great host. There is no TV, but you could see a lot of stars from the hot tub, I even saw a shooting star. However, I had to give it a three because there was a dog barking outside all night long. Even my noise machine couldn’t drown him out. We gave up on sleep at 4am and decided to leave only to find no running water to take a shower. Rick checked it at 8am and it was running again, so maybe it froze, but it was an unfortunate as we had a long day of travel ahead of us.
Beautiful property. We were only there for the evening so we did not get to spend anytime enjoying everything. I would love to return and spend a few days. The sunrise in the morning from the second floor is amazing.
The Cavern on The Green was exactly what I was hoping for! We stayed with our two daughters (4 and 7) and we all had a fantastic time. Rick came down to check on us and tell us a little bit about the property, which was greatly appreciated. The kitchen had everything that I needed to make meals. The beds were very comfortable. Even though we were there in the winter, the property stayed warm enough (but a pair of slippers may not be a bad idea) and had rugs to help offset the cold floors. The hot tub was large enough and had a great view of the valley and mountain. There's a fire pit as well, which was a nice addition. The kids loved the loft. The steps are made of stones so I would be wary of leaving very small children up there alone but older children or teenagers should be fine. I just made them call me at night before they came down and that seemed to work fine. There s no TV but there is WiFi but, honestly, we didn't even want to watch TV because we had so many other things to do. There is another cabin next door but we did not notice the other renters at all. The property is open concept so there is limited privacy to the main floor bedroom. I would recommend a curtain that could be pulled to assist with changing clothes privately. With only one bathroom to share between 4 people, it wasn't always easy to navigate getting ready in the morning. I'm sure that there were laundromats nearby but I would say having a washer/dryer on property for public use would be helpful for future consideration. I know Rick said he was planning a 3rd property soon! Rick, thanks again!
Something out of the ordinary cabin.. gives a little fairytale vibe. Quiet and relaxing. No tv gives plenty of time to talk and reflect . The hot tub is perfect any time of day. Couldn't ask for a better place... best Christmas present ever
My husband and I spent the night while passing through and throughly enjoyed our stay! The home was just as described and super clean! Rick was an excellent host and recommended The Cavern Grill for dinner and it was amazing! Next filet mignon that I ever had!
We really enjoyed our stay at the cavern. It’s a nice little place tucked away in a beautiful part of northern Georgia.
We stayed the weekend with friends to celebrate my husband’s 40th Birthday, and the Cavern on the Green couldn’t have been more perfect! Thank you, Rick & Angela, for your wonderful hospitality.
There are not enough adjectives to describe how wonderful this place is! It is so unique, charming & peaceful and I did not want to leave! Rick & Angela have put in a lot of love in every detail to make sure guests are comfortable and enjoy their visit. The views are spectacular, especially from the upstairs loft bedroom! I can hardly wait to book another stay!
Positives: unique rock cavern cabin. Hot tub is great! FYI: The ad does mention the 2nd cabin on the property. It is directly behind this one. Maybe 20 yards separate them. So there could be people which isn’t a big deal unless...visitors don’t read directions and drive off road within feet of your hot tub and get their vehicle stuck trying to get back on the road. Negative: construction projects going on during the day?!?? 2 guys about 30-40 yds away spend our first day working on a project. They drove back and forth for over 4.5 hours and for the last hour were making cuts with an electric saw. Kinda weird for privacy to be a key selling point with 2 men 30 yards away... Beds: Too soft?!?! Is that even a thing? Yes and if you are used to a firm mattress be aware. They are extremely soft and my back paid the price. Still gave 4 stars...
Unique construction beautifully executed. Wife and I loved it. Making plans to visit again for a longer stay. Thank you Rick for opening your home to us.
