Fun place to stay while visiting Wild Adventures!
Awesome long weekend in Valdosta GA visiting our son! House is beautiful and very tastefully decorated and arranged. Plenty of sitting areas throughout. Enjoyed the covered front porch in the evenings. Close to downtown eateries and pubs. Definitely recommend staying here!
Great place to stay when taking family to Wild Adventures. Plenty of room. It is also walking distance from shops downtown.
Very clean home in great location. Loved being able to walk downtown.
This is a nice home, in need of TLC and some repairs, and a good cleaning. Smelled musty and moldy, the air freshener plugins helped but were to strong to leave plugged in. The cleaning person needs to REALLY clean. The floors were dirty and dusty upstairs and down. I agree with the third floor not being safe, not only are the stairs steep the crawl space doors are not child proof and the a/c unit up there is an accident waiting to happen. I would never allow a child to be up there and recommend a door be installed for the a/c unit area. I have read other renter reviews and the owners' replies, constructive criticism can be a good thing.
The A/C was not working properly when we arrived but the owner responded immediately and it was fixed within the hour. Had a wonderful stay!
We came to Valdosta for a Senior Women's softball tournament and stayed at this beautiful Victorian House. The home was very clean and accommodating. The host were friendly and helpful. Would recommend this home if you appreciate old beautiful houses. Great weekend with friends.
Enjoyed our 2 night stay at this home. There are some very interesting collections in this home. It felt like being in a little museum. Many Gone with the Wind memorabilia, Coca-Cola, Route 66, and other unique and interesting things. I think I spent a couple hours just going room to room looking at stuff. Most furniture pieces are lovely antiques. I have an affinity for wood pieces and my favorite was the baby chair in the formal dining area and the large armoire in one of the bedrooms. The house was huge to us after having spent the week camping before our stay. We mostly stayed down stairs in the reading room and retired to the bedroom at the top of the stairs. We are small town country folks so the down town areas was a bit cityish and we were apprehensive at first but glad we got out and walked down town for dinner. We ate at The Blue Pub the first night we were there and had the best blue cheese burger and sweet pototatoes fries. We went to Wild Things and was disappointed and I will leave it at that, it's not VRBOs fault but just wouldn't recommend the place if you are looking for something to do while staying in this area. Wish I had just stayed at the house and maybe enjoyed it more. My only bit of caution would be to let you know that there is an abundant use of air freshener throughout the house and it was a bit overbearing as an allergy sufferer. If you have an aversion to plug-in type products, maybe inform the owner so the cleaning service can up-plug. I was OK after we unplugged and aired out a bit. Other than that the house was quite lovely and relaxing. I would recommend the house for those interested in a romantic getaway, historic adventure, or even a family gathering. It will take you back in time it was beautiful.
We felt like we had stepped back in time with all the modern conveniences of today.
It was a very big house but it was in need of MAJOR repairs. Its missing a door upstairs, needs facial, hot tub water was nasty, etc. My family made it work pleasantly but higher end people wouldnt like it
My mother, husband, 13 year old son and I were in Valdosta, GA to go to Wild Adventures Theme Park and didn’t want to stay in a cramped hotel room. We found this house and it was perfect! This house was very unique! It has a great history and story, my family loved reading the history of the house scrapbook that was in the kitchen. This house was very spacious and there was plenty of room for everyone. If we ever visit Valdosta, GA again we would definitely stay here, it is priced right and much more spacious than a hotel room.
We were in town for a family wedding and the house worked out great for us. The Victorian has been upgraded significantly inside and out and has lots of room. Would suggest adding smoke/CO detectors. Pet friendly is a plus. Furnished very well with some nice period furnishings but does have a lot of ‘stuff’ sitting around. Great value for the price!!
First how clean it is. Housekeeper does a great job. We were there for the cold snap. Only the kitchen was a little cold. Was no problem and how they design homes down south. The house is so big. The kids had a great time at hiding and thank God did not break anything. The home has lots of antiques etc. Was fun to look at. The pool guy does a great job! Looking forward to staying again. Thanks Jim
This place was actually cool for a museum. It was neat walking around in the old style of house and it really took you back in time. It had a McClintock feel to it which i liked. The owners were great but the issue we had was the street noise. I am not sure if this is normal but cars, trucks, and trains were going all hours of the night. It was great being close to downtown but would have liked to get a good night sleep.
only stayed a weekend but had a good time
The home is a delight! Everything you possibly need is there. Every room had personality that we loved. Would go again in a heartbeat!! Thank you for allowing us to visit your beautiful home!
We had such a wonderful time. It had felt like coming home for me personally. The feel of the house reminds me of my home growing up as well as the distant train sounds. There was tracks about same distance when I was growing up. I have slept as soundly as a child does! We just love that everything is so easy to get to with nothing much more then 15 minutes away. This has been a great trip and we are already looking forward to coming back and planning future get-always with you. Thanks again for sharing your home with us!
My family and i stayed here for my Grandparents 50th anniversary. The house was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in all four us were in awe. Next time we come to Valdosta we will be sure and stay again. Pictures and words can not describe the beauty, it is a must see!
We enjoyed our stay in your home. We toured The Crescent which is a 10 minute walk away as well as the museum which is close by. Our favorite restaurant was Steel Magnolias that served the most delicious fried green tomatoes. It was a bit eerie at first, and but we settled in. If we knew the cleaner was going to wait opposite the house right at checkout time, we may have left a day earlier, it felt awkward being watched. Other than that, we were comfortable and enjoyed your home.
My husband and I celebrated our 20th Anniversary in this beautiful home. We enjoyed a private candle lit dinner for two and topped it off with a dip in the hot tub looking at the stars. We loved just staying in. The home is clean and centrally located to all the attractions. If you are looking for a place to stay in southern Georgia definitely stay here!
This home is very beautiful! We took our children on a weekend get away to Wild Adventures and stayed in this home. The home is only 6 miles from the theme park and close to everything. It is very clean and the Hunters are a pleasure to do business with. Our entire family felt as if we had stepped back in time and were in a movie during our stay. We will return!!
We had a great vacation, the house was wonderful, and in a great location. We didn't have to drive far for anything we needed. My family and I really loved the house, we had plenty of room, it was very spacious , it was very clean and comfortable. The beds was great and the hot tub was very relaxing and we enjoyed having our privacy. I would definitely recommend this house if you're on vacation or just need a weekend getaway.
I just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful week in Valdosta in your home. It served as a perfect location. We were able to drive daily to several great locations. The house was great and the Hunters wonderful to work with. Thank you for a great place to stay. If in Valdosta eat at Mom and Dads restaurant the Lobster ravioli was awesome. We enjoy our stay in this beautiful Victorian home. The children love the third floor, it was made for them, they said to us. I will recommend others about our stay. It was nice, clean, and lot of space for everyone.
The property was kept immaculately. There was more than enough space for the five of us. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The convenience to restaurants, shopping, and the convention center was great. We were literally no more than 9 minutes from everwhere we needed or wanted to go. The old world charm invited you to sit on the porch and reflect on the history of this home. Owners were extremely gracious and accomadating. Look forward to staying again soon.
I absolutely love this home, my husband and I spent our honeymoon there last year for a week before Christmas and it was beautiful, there was a Christmas tree with fake presents it was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was stocked with everything one needs to cook and then some, all the rooms were great, nice and clean the place even smelled good, everything was so great we had a great time it was close to everything, shopping and dinning, the hot tub was one of my favorite things about this house, I look forward to coming back with my family and I tell everyone about this house the price is great and the house is just lovely, just as discribed and even better than I imaged from the pictures, I was a little concerned to pay for something then get the keys in the mail, but the Hunters made this process easy, they replied to any messages fast and with professionalism and kindness...thanks so much for the great stay!
