Albany is in Dougherty County, Georgia. Albany is in Southwest Georgia and is the principal city of the Albany, Georgia Metro Area. This portion of Georgia has a current population of about 77,000. Albany is 78 miles Southeast of Columbus, 151 miles South of Atlanta as well as 88 miles North of Tallahassee, Florida, 70 miles East of Eufaula, Alabama and just about 84 miles East of Dothan, Alabama. This nearly 900,000 square foot mall opened back in 1976 and continues to be one of the main staples here in Albany. Old Navy, JCPenney, Dillard’s, Belk and Books-A-Million are the anchor stores at this famous mall.

Events in Albany
Here in Albany there is both a full marathon (26.2 miles) as we well as a half marathon (13.1 miles) that takes place the first weekend of March. The full marathon is ranked as of one of the top Boston Marathon qualifiers in the county. Approximately 20% of the marathon runners who finish the face qualify for the Boston Marathon. After the Marathon there is a Mardi Gras Street Festival which takes place in downtown Albany. This festival starts at noon and goes until midnight. So after doing a marathon you can celebrate with drinks and a huge Mardi Gras celebration. This is one of the coolest events in Albany!
